Based in the UK, Future Visual delivers award winning AR and VR solutions for businesses, across training, marketing and events. They have worked for some big name brands like Ferrari, McDonald’s and John Lewis.

I worked with Future Visual for 3 years to develop and implement a search marketing strategy to support business growth.

The challenge

Before implementing an SEO strategy, Future Visual’s business was mostly coming from events and email marketing (although events were successful, the cold email strategy wasn’t generating opportunities). As events can be quite cost-intensive to attend and exhibit at, they wanted to create a more sustainable source of traffic and leads.

Although they already had a website, they had no visibility in search; there was no traffic and they weren’t ranking for relevant keywords such as ‘VR Training’.

They are a relatively small team (with just one person sitting in the sales and marketing function) so they needed outside expertise to help them turn their website into a lead-generating asset that would support their business growth. They wanted to increase online brand awareness in search and create a sustainable source of traffic and leads.

Steps to success

  • Conducted in depth customer research to understand the challenges of their target market, so that the search strategy could be defined.
  • Keyword research based on the customer research.
  • Established KPIs to measure success.
  • Fixed website technical issues to ensure a good foundation for future organic growth.
  • Created topic clusters informed by the keyword research. These were turned into briefs for pillar pages, and regular blog posts - 4 posts per month.
  • Set up HubSpot to track lead generation (we created a guide on VR Training to use for lead gen purposes).
  • Launched remarketing campaigns to capture demand/improve conversion from organic traffic.
  • Set up PPC campaign to run in conjunction with the organic strategy, to generate leads whilst the organic strategy was gaining traction and maximise search visibility for valuable keywords.

The results

After 18 months

  • Future Visual is number one for VR Training as a result of the topic cluster content strategy.

  • Organic traffic increased by 1700%.

  • Driving 40-50 leads per month from organic search.

  • Sales team were able to convert these into opportunities and net new business – sustainable pipeline.
